The Environment
I am passionate about my artwork reflecting the beauty of the natural world that I see around me. I want my work to showcase the precious experiences and emotions we have when we engage with our environment.
I am becoming increasingly aware that both locally and globally we are losing that precious beauty to the wanton greed and destruction wrought by mankind. It is my hope that by sharing my passion in depicting the multifarious aspects of Nature, that I may, in some small way, heighten the awareness of the fragility of our planet to all of us, the custodians of Earth.
Landscapes
I have come late to my commitment to painting our landscapes It is only since retirement that I can now fully immerse myself in capturing the scenes that hold so many personal memories and emotions. Up to now, I have mainly worked in watercolour but also in the exciting and versatile medium of fluid acrylics. My ever increasing output on canvas is both with heavy body acrylics and oils.
It is the source of my inspiration and allows me to follow the passage of the sun with its everchanging play on light and shadow. Practising this pursuit with others in my art clubs is a lovely way to become immersed with other like-minded artists.
This is an acrylic plein air scene of the clifftop ruins of Dunluce Castle on the Antrim Coast on Northern Ireland on one of my art trips.
Battling the winds while trying to do some plein air painting on Skye, but the elements had other plans!
